Tanjore painting

It is a long established fact that a reade.

Tanjore painting is an ancient art representing the history and our rich culture. This is one of the most beautiful and detail oriented art. Learning this art is like taking the legacy to next generation. Tanjore painting is a custom art to bring your own creative design to the art form.

Recently I have displayed my art works in an art exhibition and I was pleased to see the response from the visitors to learn this art. Since this art demands perfection and patience to the learners, I have created a simple step by step procedure to explain the art in 4 steps at very high level.

Tanjore Painting Steps

Cutting the wooden plank to the required size Cover the plank with strip cloth and gum Remove any air bubbles in between the plank and cloth Rest the prepared baseboard to dry
Mix the limestone powder to the right paste texture Brush the chalk powder paste over the base board Repeat this coating process at various intervals for smooth finish
Outline the sketch in the base board Identify the stone work areas in the sketch Stick the stones by color and size as needed Muck the outline and inner areas to show the depth and designs
Glue down the gold foil over the art in specified area Cut/remove the excess gold foil on the design and stone Pain the background, floor and picture Final step is drawing and painting the face to bring peace, love and expression to this divine art The students with basic painting and coloring skills would have an edge compare to others because the final few steps of this art requires fine art in bringing expression to face and background scenes.
